A primary school reliant on outdated fossil fuel-burning natural gas boilers wanted to transition to low-carbon heating and required Salix PSDS Phase 3B funding in order to facilitate this. Alongside securing the vital funding, other factors including planning consent, building control approval, structural assessments for rooftop solar PV installation, as well as managing the complex installation across six plantrooms within a live school environment added additional complexity.
Our experts assessed the school’s carbon footprint and prepared a compelling decarbonisation plan to support the funding application. Acting as contract administrator, we coordinated design and procurement processes whilst obtaining all statutory consents including planning permission and building control approval. We secured funding through Salix Finance, ensuring the project could proceed without placing additional financial pressure on a limited budget.
We successfully delivered the area’s first major school air source heat pump project of this scale, completing on time and within budget whilst maintaining full school operations throughout. The installation has eliminated fossil fuel dependency dramatically reducing carbon emissions and positioning the school as a sustainability leader. Seasonal control strategies enable ongoing efficiency optimisation, ensuring maximum performance and cost savings.
