Role Purpose
The SDS Business Development Advisor is a client-facing role responsible for handling inbound enquiries from individuals and directors in financial distress across Scotland, converting leads into debt solutions cases, and delivering a high-quality, empathetic advisory experience at every stage of the client journey.
This role forms a critical part of BTG's growth strategy in Scotland, helping to extend the team's operating window into Saturdays, service the incoming website referral pipeline, and support individuals at often the most difficult point in their personal or professional lives. The ability to connect with people quickly, listen carefully, and guide them towards the right solution is at the heart of what this role requires.
Key Responsibilities
• Handle inbound SDS digital leads via telephone and digital channels, conducting initial consultations and securing client commitments within the critical conversion window.
• Proactively identify suitable debt solution pathways for individuals and directors in financial distress, with a particular focus on sequestration opportunities.
• Manage and convert referral leads from the social media pipeline, ensuring a high standard of responsiveness and client care from first contact.
• Provide Saturday cover as part of a contracted shift pattern, ensuring BTG is available to clients at the point they are ready to seek advice.
• Support both personal and corporate out of hours enquiries, working collaboratively with the wider BTG team to ensure no enquiry goes unanswered.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of all client interactions within the CRM system, ensuring full compliance with internal processes and regulatory requirements.
• Build strong working relationships with referral partners, treating each interaction as a reflection of BTG's commitment to those partnerships.
• Meet individual performance targets for lead conversion, case volume, and client satisfaction.
Person Specification
• Demonstrable experience of working directly with people in challenging, emotionally sensitive, or high-pressure situations — whether in financial services, debt advice, welfare, social care, or a similar client-facing environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills — able to build rapport quickly, listen actively, and explain complex information in a clear and reassuring way.
• A natural ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional when dealing with individuals who may be distressed, anxious, or uncertain.
• Strong consultative skills — able to understand a client's situation, identify the right solution, and guide them confidently through a decision.
• Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to manage a pipeline of leads and work effectively without close supervision.
• Comfortable working a shift pattern that includes Saturdays and evenings as contracted working days.
• Competent with digital tools, CRM systems, and remote working technology.
Desirable
• Experience in personal insolvency, debt solutions, Trust Deeds, sequestration, or a related financial services environment.
• Familiarity with personal debt solutions market and relevant legislation.
• Experience handling inbound telephone-based enquiries in a regulated or advisory environment.
• Knowledge of CRM platforms and lead management processes.
• Familiar with the Microsoft office environment.
We are looking for someone who brings more than just technical knowledge to this role. The individuals and directors who contact our team are often at one of the most stressful points in their lives. The right candidate will understand the weight of that and approach every conversation with genuine care, patience, and professionalism.
