Senior Credit Controller

We are looking for an experienced credit controller to join our Accounts Receivable Team based in the Group’s head office. The ideal candidate will have experience in credit control with professional services experience and a proven track record of managing their own ledger end to end and collaborating with internal stakeholders. This is a senior, autonomous role with full ownership of assigned ledgers and plays a key part in protecting cash flow while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role operates with a high level of autonomy and trust, with responsibility for prioritising activity, managing risk, and determining appropriate next actions across assigned ledgers, with minimal supervision.
  • Ownership of specific business area’s debtor ledgers through the full collection cycle.
  • Proactively manage cash collection in accordance with Group processes.
  • Build strong relationships and work closely with internal stakeholders including regular visits to other Group offices.
  • Regular review and prioritisation of aged debt, with clear action plans for high-risk and long-outstanding balances.
  • Escalate accounts for recovery action and manage these processes including working with the Group’s in-house solicitor and attendance at court as required.
  • Build a strong commercial understanding of the business, enabling balanced decisions between client relationships and cash collection.
  • Input into credit risk assessments for new and existing clients, providing insight based on payment behaviour and exposure.

 

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in credit control, professional services background or similar desirable.
  • Strong end-to-end credit control expertise, including collections, dispute resolution and cash collection.
  • Advanced ledger management skills with the ability to prioritise workload based on risk, value and aging.
  • Proven experience managing escalated and high-risk accounts including formal recovery action where required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence senior internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with fee earners, operational teams and clients across multiple locations.
  • Highly organised with strong time-management skills, able to manage a busy ledger with minimal supervision.
  • Process driven mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements to credit control practices.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and confidence in making commercially balanced credit decisions.

 

Measure of Success

Success in this role will be measured through effective cash collection, proactive risk management, timely resolution of disputes, and the ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders while protecting cash flow.
