Brian is a Partner based in our British Virgin Islands (BVI) office, which he leads. His career spans corporate insolvency, forensic accounting and fraud investigations, with extensive experience in asset recovery, often in collaboration with litigation funders, legal practitioners and counsel to maximise returns in complex and high value cases. He also leads BTG’s Digital Asset Investigation Unit.
Brian has over 22 years of experience in complex cross-border assignments involving onshore and offshore elements across financial and corporate services, real estate and development, aviation, hospitality and education sectors. His dual insolvency licensing enables him to act across jurisdictions on formal appointments, including in the capacity of interim receiver and provisional liquidator.
He recently acted as liquidator of a crypto trading platform, pursuing asset recovery litigation against former directors. He managed the orderly repatriation and realisation of valuable yacht chattels controlled by a BVI company, and as part of a joint appointment with Hong Kong liquidators recovering over $500 million for international bondholders investing in China. His recent appointments include numerous corporate simplification and exit management cases involving property de-enveloping and asset distributions.
Prior to joining BTG, Brian gained experience at a Big Four accountancy practice in transaction and reorganisation services, with a wide range of engagements involving multi-jurisdictional and high stakes elements. He is a former president of the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA) British Virgin Islands. He also sits as an inaugural member of INSOL International's Offshore Advisory Council, specialising in education and legislative development in offshore jurisdictions.
He is a qualified Financial Accountant and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner in the UK and the British Virgin Islands.
