Learn more about Daniel Garfoot

Daniel is a Director based in our Lincoln office. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor specialising in quantity surveying, cost management and employer's agent services across the education, health, commercial, industrial and blue light sectors. He provides comprehensive project management and contract administration support on new build and refurbishment schemes.

He has over 20 years' experience delivering complex construction projects throughout Lincolnshire and the wider region. Notable work includes acting as employer's agent on North Lincolnshire Council's Building Schools for the Future programme, delivering eight new schools, and on projects for Oasis Academies at Immingham and Wintringham and the Humber University Technical College in Scunthorpe. He has also provided quantity surveying services on heritage and cultural projects, including Whitby Abbey Visitors Centre for English Heritage, the Air and Space Institute for Lincoln College Group, and the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln.

Prior to joining BTG, Daniel gained experience at top-tier surveying firms in Sheffield before relocating to Lincolnshire, where he spent 15 years at a global independent construction and property consultancy. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) and holds a degree from Sheffield Hallam University.

US tariff reset erodes UK’s advantage as exporters prepare for the next regime

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
