David is a Director based in our Liverpool office. He is a RICS-registered valuer specialising in commercial and residential property valuations, development appraisals and expert witness services across the North West.

He has over 25 years' experience providing strategic valuation advice to banks, lending institutions, property companies and private clients. Notable work includes regular expert witness appointments, preparing CPR-compliant reports for court and tribunal proceedings in negligence, matrimonial, and lease dispute matters, and completing a secondment with the professional indemnity team of a major high street lender.

Prior to joining BTG, David spent over a decade in senior leadership positions at national property consultancies, gaining extensive regional experience. He holds a degree in Urban Estate Surveying from Trent Polytechnic and he is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS).

US tariff reset erodes UK’s advantage as exporters prepare for the next regime

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
