David is Managing Director for Funding and Insurance, working out of our Sheffield and Alfreton offices. He leads the commercial finance team in Alfreton and the Receivables team in Sheffield.
The finance team advise on and procure commercial funding for clients across all sectors, and work with the whole of the funding market to find the right solutions for clients. The Receivables team support funders and Insolvency Practitioners to collect outstanding debtor ledgers, achieving better outcomes for clients.
David specialises in deal advisory and commercial finance, delivering funding solutions to clients, managing lender and client relationships, and driving results-driven outcomes for both clients and funders.
David has over 30 years of experience in banking and finance. Recent case studies have included the complex restructure of an engineering business to provide working capital and asset finance, as part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). A re-bank for a manufacturing business to a new banking partner, including term debt, a cashflow loan and CID, and a cashflow loan to pay deferred consideration, following a vendor-initiated MBO.
Prior to joining BTG, David gained experience at four different banks in both regional and national leadership roles, including as commercial director and regional managing director. He has also fulfilled non-executive roles in education and finance.

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
