Learn more about Ian Harrington
Ian is a Regional Managing Partner (North) and National Head of Building and Project Consultancy based in our Leeds office. He is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 25 years' experience, leading the Building and Project Consultancy team nationally. He specialises in project monitoring and management, pre-acquisition surveys, dilapidations, and contract administration across diverse commercial sectors.
Ian has extensive experience delivering the full range of building surveying services, with particular expertise in building acquisition surveys, due diligence reviews, expert witness services, and CDM-C compliance. His approach combines technical rigour with commercial pragmatism, advising clients on complex building matters from initial appraisal through to project delivery. His leadership has been instrumental in developing BTG’s building and project consultancy offering into a comprehensive national service line.
Prior to joining BTG, Ian spent a decade at a UK property consultancy as a director and also gained experience at a long-established estate agency and chartered surveyors. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and a member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM). He holds a diploma in Project Management and a degree in Building Surveying from Leeds Beckett University.
