Jake Beake is a Partner based in our London office and he leads the London contentious insolvency division. He has extensive experience in asset recovery, asset tracing, fraud investigations and litigation.
Jake has over 16 years of experience handling multi-jurisdictional investigations and litigation arising from contentious insolvency proceedings, often involving allegations of fraud. He also works closely with BTG’s offshore offices, working on a number of insolvencies across the British Virgin Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar and Jersey.
He has previously provided specialist accountancy advice to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) as part of their investigations into complex fraud, resulting in the SFO issuing a Deferred Prosecution Agreement. He acted as liquidator of a group of companies involved in property investment schemes, some FCA-regulated, resulting in losses exceeding £40 million. He also acted as liquidator of an Isle of Man-registered investment fund which defrauded investors of over £20 million through various schemes.
He is part of R3’s (Association of Business Recovery Professionals) Fraud & Asset Recovery Group and INSOL Europe’s Anti-Fraud Forum.
Prior to joining BTG, Jake was associate director at a leading insolvency, restructuring and advisory firm. He is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and a Chartered Accountant.
