James is an Assistant Director of our Corporate Finance business, based in our Birmingham office and working across the UK and internationally. He advises clients in all aspects of corporate finance, including business acquisitions, company disposals, management buyouts and fundraising.
James has over 10 years of experience supporting clients, with extensive experience in the technology, business services and industrial sectors.
He has recently been involved in multiple acquisitions for Severn Trent Plc, mapping out relevant markets, providing buy-side support to optimise short and medium-term acquisition strategy, and providing strategic advice on deal valuation and structuring.
He provided buy-side advisory to Stowe Family Law on its acquisition of Hawkins Family Law, leading negotiations on the value and structure of the deal, from market benchmarking to completion mechanics.
Prior to joining BTG, James started his career at a Big Four firm and has since focused on advising mid-market companies. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds the CFA Certificate in Investment Management.

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
