Learn more about Julian Pitts

Julian is the National Managing Partner for Restructuring, based in our Leeds office. He leads the national restructuring team and sits on the management board. He specialises in business restructuring, with expertise in independent business reviews, sales through administration, LPA receiverships, and liquidations across the construction, hospitality, care, and sport sectors, with several high profile engagements.

Julian has over 40 years of experience and has undertaken over 2,500 insolvency appointments throughout his career. His recent appointments include the successful Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) for Leeds Tykes RUFC, the sale through administration of Worcester Warriors, and the administration of Sheffield Wednesday FC. He also managed the complex reorganisation and simplification of a nationwide utility connections provider.

Prior to joining BTG, Julian co-founded his own insolvency practice. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

US tariff reset erodes UK’s advantage as exporters prepare for the next regime

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
