Kenny is a Partner based in our Glasgow office. He specialises in SME insolvency, personal insolvency and business restructuring, with extensive sector experience in retail, construction, leisure, IT, and manufacturing, and more recently, hospitality, haulage, drinks, farming and real estate.
He has over 40 years of experience advising business owners, directors and individuals on company insolvency, with Big 4 experience in Scotland, West Africa and Australia. Kenny regularly acts for a range of stakeholders, including HMRC, trade creditors, councils, investors and banks.
He was recently appointed joint administrator of The George Hotel, Inveraray, which was sold out of administration after securing a £3.05 million rescue deal. He also acted as trustee in sequestration for Alex Salmond, former First Minister of Scotland and SNP leader. Other cases include acting as joint administrator of a Kirriemuir-based, family-run haulage company and a Glasgow-based investment fund operating a Ponzi-like scheme.
He is a former chairman of the Glasgow Insolvency Forum, he served on the ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) technical committee for 7 years and currently sits on the joint insolvency committee. Prior to joining BTG, Kenny was a Partner at a Top Ten accounting practice and its legacy firm for over two decades, establishing their insolvency operations in Glasgow.
He is a Chartered Accountant and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
