Matthew is a Partner and Head of Creditor Services. He specialises in SME insolvency and business turnaround, with extensive experience supporting owner-managed businesses, particularly with business finance.
Matthew has over 15 years of experience in the insolvency profession, and he also assists SMEs in obtaining commercial finance products through his strong professional network in this sector. His notable cases include managing the insolvency of a £30 million turnover construction company. He was also involved in reviewing and advising on the insolvent position of a multi-site recruitment provider on behalf of a high street bank.
Prior to joining BTG, Matthew gained nearly a decade of experience at a large independent insolvency practice in South Yorkshire. His insolvency experience started with him working on volume IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements)
He is AAT qualified.

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
