Nick is a Director based in our Fareham office. He is a Chartered Building Surveyor specialising in building and project consultancy, with extensive experience in dilapidations, party wall matters and comprehensive building surveying services across South England.

He has over 30 years' experience delivering expert building consultancy advice to commercial and residential clients. Nick leads the Building and Project Consultancy team, providing strategic guidance on complex technical matters including property condition assessments, defect analysis, planned maintenance programmes and dispute resolution. His expertise spans the full lifecycle of building projects, from initial appraisals through to final account negotiations.

Prior to joining BTG, Nick spent over 24 years at a leading firm of chartered surveyors, where he developed deep specialist knowledge in building surveying and established a strong reputation for technical excellence and client service. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and he holds a degree in Building Surveying from Birmingham City University.

US tariff reset erodes UK’s advantage as exporters prepare for the next regime

The Trump administration has replaced the reciprocal tariffs regime that was struck down by the Supreme Court with a non-discriminatory tariff tool, shifting tariff risk to a more uncertain carve-out-driven framework. In this new regime, the UK’s prior relative advantage for non-exempt goods is no longer assured and outcomes depend on sector carve-outs, product mix and enforcement.
