Learn more about Paul Appleton
Paul is a Senior Partner based in our London office. He specialises in restructuring, business turnaround, board advisory, corporate insolvency and contentious personal insolvency. His experience spans professional football and rugby clubs, major property and retail groups, IT and media entrepreneurs, fashion houses, leisure operators, and innovative energy ventures.
Paul has over 35 years of experience supporting a diverse portfolio of high profile individuals and organisations through highly sensitive and multifaceted challenges. His work frequently involves cross-border considerations, drawing on an extensive global network across Europe, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. This includes navigating multi-jurisdictional issues, such as the management of sophisticated international Ponzi schemes.
Notable recent cases include the sale and rescue of an established, high-end jewellery business and the administration and subsequent sale of a high-end couture brand.
He has also recently acted for a holding company with underlying businesses in property management services, to include a water park, hotel, pawnbroker, media entity and air charter service. The company was rescued as a going concern, and control returned to the directors, resulting in repayment of tens of millions to the secured creditor. He also recently initiated the rescue of a London-based gym and fitness studio group, saving over 300 jobs.
Paul lectures widely at industry conferences and programmes held by the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3), INSOL Europe and INSOL International, sharing insights on assignments across international jurisdictions such as Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus, France, Belgium, Poland, Malta, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, the BVI, Cayman Islands, Panama, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Russia and Israel.
He is a Chartered Accountant and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
