Stephen is a Partner based in our London office. He specialises in corporate insolvency and financial advisory, with extensive experience in partnership insolvencies, including limited liability partnerships (LLPs) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulated businesses, such as debt management businesses and solicitor practices. He is experienced in Ponzi scheme investigations, business acquisitions, due diligence and pre-lending reviews, with specialist knowledge across the technology and construction sectors.
He also handles Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs), court-appointed receiverships and insolvent deceased estates. Stephen has over 40 years of experience and has acted in many cross-border insolvency cases across Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, the USA and the Bahamas.
His recent cases include the administration and sale of an FCA-regulated debt management and associated insolvency businesses. He handled the administration and CVA of a substantial lending scheme under investigation by the police and Charity Commission due to Ponzi scheme suspicions. He was involved in the receivership and wind down of a legal partnership, and the administration and liquidation of legal practices, alongside intervention from the SRA.
Prior to joining BTG, Stephen managed the business recovery division at a Top 25 accounting practice, later joining a long-established business recovery and insolvency firm as director. He is a Chartered Accountant and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
