A town centre required comprehensive regeneration to reverse decades of decline, with an aging shopping centre, outdated car park, and inadequate bus station failing to meet modern retail, residential, and transport needs. The town council partnered with English Cities Fund to deliver a transformational £100 million mixed-use development; however, the ambitious scheme depended entirely on wholesale highways infrastructure improvements.
Working in partnership, BTG were commissioned to deliver complete design works for all transport infrastructure supporting the regeneration scheme. This includes a new state-of-the-art bus station providing significantly enhanced public transport interchange capacity and passenger facilities. Our designs also prioritised enhanced ‘public realm’ creating pedestrian-friendly streets and improved lighting.
Our transport infrastructure designs have enabled progression of the transformational £100 million town centre regeneration, with construction now advancing on site. This landmark regeneration demonstrates how strategic transport infrastructure investment unlocks wider economic transformation, revitalising town centres and creating vibrant, sustainable communities.
