About the deal:
Denis Wick Products Limited is the leading UK manufacturer of mutes, mouthpieces and accessories for brass instruments and is based in Poole, Dorset. The company was formed in 1968 by renowned musician Denis Wick who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Italian-based Music Center S.r.l. backed by Consilium Private Equity (“Consilium”), is a global leader in the production of components and accessories for musical instruments with operations in Europe and North America.
Music Center’s acquisition of Denis Wick marks a significant step in its mission to create a global centre of excellence in the musical instrument accessories industry through a growth strategy focused on M&A. Denis Wick will become the first brass accessory company within the Music Center Group that includes Pisoni pads, Légère reeds and Rovner ligatures.
Wick CEO, Steven Greenall commented, “When Denis invited me to join the company in 2021, his request was to develop and lead a dynamic transformation plan securing the business’ long-term future. Sadly, he wasn’t with us for the finale, but this acquisition is a great outcome for both Music Center and the Wick family – becoming part of Music Center will take us forward on a global stage.”
How we add value:
The sale of Denis Wick Products was the final part of our strategic transformation plan. What was not planned was the unexpected death of the co-owner as the process started. As we grappled with probate, share transmission and grieving executors unfamiliar with the business, BTG provided consistent support, reassurance and emotional intelligence. Selling your small business as CEO to a multi-national PE-backed acquirer means you need a heavyweight in your corner and Simon and Joe absolutely delivered.
